I own an electrical repair biz. I get 50% of my business from my free ads on Craigslist.org. It is area specific, free, and extremely effective. The trick is to post every couple of days, as search results are prioritized by date of post as opposed to who pays more. Posting daily will insure your always top listed. Watch, post an ad and you’l get a call within hours, if your a biz that can use this type of advertising. You should have said what biz your in.

I would stay away fro click based advertising as click fraud can be a big problem. If you have articles that you have written, you can submit them to various article trading sites such as http://www.articletrader.com/ & http://www.articlegeek.com/ . when these articles are used on others websites, they include links back to your site.
