define the difference between health promotion and health education?

required to explain the difference to a 6 year old student, a 11 year old student and a 15 year student , all these in about 100 words

Wow – fun question.

For me the difference between promotion and education lies in the differences in the intent of the action.

To promote health or healthy living you are trying to get people to ‘buy’ the idea of good health. It is a sales job of sorts. Sort of like advertising but less in your face but can be as manipulative.

To educate someone about health or healthy living you are helping them acquire the tools to do it. It’s not a sale job it is helping you find a way to achieve good health.

I think I did it in 100 words – probably less. Hope this helps.
