What are some slogans for healthy living?

I have a project and I can’t seem to think of a good slogan for healthy living. I would like it to rhyme and it can have anything to do with drugs or living healthy in general. thanks

Has anybody slept better because they changed their food intake?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under nutrition and wellness | 2 Comments »

Could I please interview you? This is for my Nutrition and Wellness research paper assignment. Here are the interview questions:

1. What was your sleep pattern like before you changed your diet?
2. How have your sleep changed?
3. How have your diet changed?
4. What kinds of foods would you recommend to those with troubled sleep?
5. Are there any other benefits that you feel from this new diet?

You can answer those on here too, but please leave your first name and family name’s initial. Thank you in advance!

1. It’s not the sleep pattern but the quality of sleep that changed as a result of diet change. With a bad diet, I usually wake up tired even after 7 hours, and I tend to dream a lot – dreams that you remember vividly after waking up.

2. Changing the diet helps me rest better and wake up with more energy and don’t feel sleepy or tired during the day.

3. Avoid eating food that is difficult to digest during dinner: meat, deep fried and greasy food, glutinous rice (Chinese food), nuts. The key is to go to bed with an empty stomach but not feeling hungry.

4. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, less sugar and sweets.

5. Overall wellness.

Why dont people in the Mens Health section not get that there is more to life than a PENUS and MASTERBATING ?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under mens health | 10 Comments »

I want everyone that saw this question to asnwer it with their honest opinion.
To the point that every other question seems to be asking the same thing does not really help you.

I know! Men’s Health is more than just talking about your penis and how you masturbate and how you’re feeling horny. It can be a really serious section to people and the questions should be more serious.

A well-planned vegetarian diet provides a decreased risk for heart disease, certain types of cancers, and type II diabetes. Those who follow a vegetarian diet are less likely to be obese. Look up the Seventh Day Adventist studies online because they provide good information on health benefits of vegetarianism.

"The beef industry has contributed to more American deaths than all the wars of this century, all natural disasters, and all automobile accidents combined. If beef is your idea of "real food for real people" you’d better live real close to a real good hospital."
-Dr. Neal Barnard, MD

"The report reviews scientific findings on trans-fats and finds that eating any at all raises levels of low-density lipoprotein – the so-called bad cholesterol. Therefore, if a limit were to be set, it should be zero. Rimm said the panel, made up of nutritionists, biochemists, pediatricians and others, decided not to do that. "We can´t tell people to stop eating all meat and all dairy products," he said. "Well, we could tell people to become vegetarians," he added. "If we were truly basing this only on science, we would, but it is a bit extreme."

IS REflexology beneficial for ones wellness and health?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under health wellness | 3 Comments »

Hello;
What is your opinion of the benefits of Reflexology for ones wellness and optimal health?

Yes, reflexology can be beneficial for increasing a person’s wellness and optimum health. Nothing is guaranteed, but it is worth a try and won’t hurt anything. First, it just feels good to get your feet massaged. I don’t think I have ever stayed awake for a whole session.

From a therapeutic point of view, it is one form of energy healing therapies which include acupuncture, meridian therapy, etc. It would be similar to auriculotherapy, where the whole body, and the treatment points, can be found in the ear or feet. We do not use reflexology at our clinic; however, we do use auriculotherapy, the acupuncture in the ear, for many conditions. I believe reflexology can work. It is not the end-all and do-all, but then again, nothing is. Medicine won’t cure everything, neither will acupuncture, reflexology, chiropractic, therapy, even Christ couldn’t cure everyone in his hometown due to lack of faith. However, at our office, sometimes only one form of treatment will get a person better, but sometimes we have to combine more than one thing, medicine, acupuncture, chiropractic, auriculotherapy, massage, PT, re-hab exercises, nutrition etc.

How does health insurance work in terms of payment?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under health | 5 Comments »

Let’s say there’s a family, and there’s three different prescriptions for different medications within the family. Let’s say the Dad is paying for health insurance. Do you just pay for health insurance once, when you register for it? Do you pay $20 monthly? Does the price you pay go up when you add more medications? I’m confused.

When you get health insurance, there is what is called a premium. This is the amount you pay on a scheduled basis. For instance, if you get insurance through your employer, you would pay your part of the premium each payday.

If you pay your premiums on time, you get to keep your insurance. Now, when you use your insurance, there is what is called a deductible. This is an amount of money you must spend before the insurance starts paying anything. A typical deductible might be $250/year for the policy holder and $500/year for the family. So, if your dad had the policy and went to get a prescription, if it was his first prescription of the year and it cost $100, he would pay $100. Every time he used stuff under the plan, he would pay everything until he hit the $250 deductible, then the insurance would kick in. (the same goes for the family coverage, until the $500 was met by everybody in total – not separately – you would pay 100%).

Now, once the deductible is met, the insurance starts picking up some of the costs…usually the costs are based on what doctor or provider you use. If you use someone who is called "in network" the insurance company pays more of the bill. They do this because they have negotiated lower costs with that provider. For example, let’s say you need to have some tests done and your family has met all your deductibles. Let’s also say the tests normally cost $200. If you go to an in network provider, the insurance would cover 80%. If you go out of network, the insurance might only cover 70%. Now the nice thing is, by going in network, you get the discounted price, let’s say $160. So, if you go in network, you would pay $32 for the tests and the insurance would pay $128 (totaling $160). If you went out of network, you would pay the 30% of $200 or $60 and the insurance company would pay $140. So, by staying in-network, both you and your insurance company save money.

Also, there is something called an out-of-pocket maximum. This just means that if someone in your family gets real sick or injured, the most you can pay for that year is the out-of-pocket max…say $5,000. Once you hit that, everything after that is covered 100% by your insurance and you don’t pay anything.

Last, there is a co-pay – what this means is that if you go to the doctor for a routine visit, it is usually covered without worrying about the deductible and you pay just the co-pay. usually this is $15 or $20 on say a $100 office visit and the insurance company pays the rest (based on a negotiated amount).

And that’s the short version of how insurance works.

Why do some people fail to listen to health education advise?

Posted by admin on May 31st, 2010 and filed under health education | 6 Comments »

In Health and social why is this so, i would like lengthy answers please.

It can be very confusing. One day, eggs are bad for you in one report, yet another report says eggs are good for you.The same goes for many other health issues. Many reports contradict other reports. As for advise for smoking and drinking, people KNOW the advise but tend to ignor it as they enjoy a smoke,or may be addicted to smoking. As for drinking,we again know that drinking in exess is bad for you,and that we should only have a set number of units a day.But when many people go out, they do not care about how many drinks they have. They go out to get drunk, and many young folks enjoy being drunk. It is part of the drinking culture today. They KNOW it will harm them and have seen the health warnings, but think, why not.
many people are fed up with the nanny state telling them what is good for them and what is bad for them. They say "it has never done any harm to me" or that "my dad smoked 40 cigs a day,and he lived until 90"They say "a bit of what you fancy does you good"
Tale salt for example.I have always put salt on my food, and have done for 60 years. Now I am told too much salt is bad for you,yet I am in excellent health.I now use less salt though.People tend to rebel about being told what is bad for you,and another day, another warning.
Ah well.Of to the pub and will tell my friends when they have had their alchol units limit.I know what their reply will be though!
